Pecorino d'Abruzzo

Tonight we opened a delightful bottle I bought today at the supermarket- and for only 4 euros I thought this interesting wine must best tried. Pecorino, usually a famous name for cheese, is a wine grown mainly in Marche but also found in Umbria or in this case Abruzzo. A grape that was starting to go into extinction until recently saved, it is vivacious and straw colored, with hints of flowers and exotic fruits like pinapple or calli-lilies. Slightly mineral, but soft and well balanced, it would be great with broiled or fried fish, chowders, or cheese like Tomà in which we tasted tonight. This particular bottle is called "Sistina IGT", in Terre di Chieti and produced by Citra Azienda d'Abruzzo, 2006.

Questa sera abbiamo aperto una bottiglia che ho comperato al supermaket per soli 4 euro pensando questo è un vino interessante da provare . Pecorino, famosissimo nome per formaggi, è un vitigno cresciuto principalmente nelle Marche ma presente anche in Umbria o come in questo caso in Abruzzo. Poteva andare in estinzione ma grazie a qualche produttore questo non è successo; si presenta con un giallo paglierino, al naso un po' floreale e un frutto con un tocco d'esotico; leggermente minerale al palato ma morbido e ben bilanciato . Direi ottimo abbinato a brodetti di pesce o anche a delle fritturine, o assaggiato assieme al formaggio Tomà come fatto da noi poco fa.
Ed ecco il nome "Sistina IGT" in Terre di Chieti dell'Azienda vinicola Citra d'Abruzzo vendemmia 2006 .
